Animate-Over

Brain research indicates that narratives activate more of the brain - and result in learners remembering more. However, gathering leaders in one room to hear those stories is time-consuming, expensive, and challenging - especially when the business' footprint has expanded significantly in a relatively short time period.

In the case of iCortex's most recent client - the subject matter expert had lots of fascinating, related stories. We knew sharing those anecdotes in their own voice would yield the best results but wanted to do so without pulling leaders into one place (read: ...and away from their desks) for an entire day.

Therefore, iCortex used the animate-over technique! We captured authentic, real life stories directly from our subject matter partner's mouth, edited them into perfect audio clips, and then animated-over their speech with absolutely captivating images.

Fun fact: The animate-over techniques was accidentally invented during the creation of a Disney movie.

For decades, Disney artists created the animation BEFORE hiring talent to do the voice-overs. That is, until they hired Robin Williams to play "Genie" in Aladdin. The beloved comedian could not, would not, stay on script. His energetic improv was so fantastic, that for the first time, animation had to come AFTER the audio.

Thus, the voice-over conceded its long time reign as preferred audio companion, and animate-over became Master. We love it!
